Remembering my mission
I fear I have become distracted over recent months and strayed from my mission. If there are any long time readers out there you may remember that many moons ago when I wrote my first post I had the intention of showing you just how great the Wonderdog and his Sidekick are.
So I sat down this week and put some thought into where their talents seem to lie now that they are both well established in the world. For inspiration I started to swipe through some old photos and quickly a theme emerged. In fact, I am quite certain I have unearthed their first true talent, something which both Barry & Gerty have proven to be great at...
Sleeping |
Snoozing |
Snuggling |
Cuddling |
Laying |
Lollygagging |
Just being downright lazy and doing nothing at all |
of the above.
I thought I was quite good at doing nothing myself. I love nothing more than a lazy Saturday when Hubby is at work and there is nobody around to notice that the hoovering is not doing itself. But then Barry came along and I suddenly realised that I had so much still to learn.
I now know that it is, in fact, possible to spend an entire day on the sofa, only moving for comfort breaks and nothing less. And that is his comfort, not mine. I know that it is possible to remain still and quiet whilst suffering from a dead leg or pins and needles throughout the entire length of your arm, just because they're so darn cute you can't bring yourself to move them!
Sleeping is great and the Wonderdog and his Sidekick are great at sleeping.
If it were an Olympic sport, somehow, they would both win Gold.
Greatness? I think so.

How do you put a dog 'in the dog house'?
Well, when Gerty was naughty we tried putting her in Bradley Bunny's hutch (he most definitely was not home, but in fact out hopping in the garden) and she was less than impressed!

Barry's Birthday Wrapping Services
So, it's Hubby's birthday this week and I just had to share something that made me smile.
I love birthdays, but other people's rather than my own. You often get to celebrate and eat good food and wine. you get to tease someone with clues and hints about their present all the while insisting that it cannot, under any circumstances, not even imminent peril, be opened until the day. Then you get to see them open it and if you've done a good job you'll see their face light up.
As you can probably guess, I just love the pouches birthdays and so do they. Barry has no idea what the fuss is all about but he sure does love the meat cupcakes and new toys that all get bestowed on one magical day!
But that's all by the by. This year Barry was insistent on helping me wrap the presents. I tried many things, got Hubby to call him and offered him treats. I threw balls out of the room only for them to be returned and dropped into my lap or on the presents in no time at all - this may not sound surprising but dear Barry has never quite grasped the idea of 'fetch' whilst out on walks so I'm sure he knows what he's up to when he manages in these situations!
Barry ignored my threats one too many times, presumably thinking them idle... or possibly just because he's a dog and unable to differentiate my human blatherings. Anyway, to cut a long story short, he ended up being wrapped and presented to Hubby with his presents. Much to Barry's disapproval. And my delight...
